How can I find out if someone in Sacramento County-California filed for bankruptcy? Is there a public record somewhere? Thanks

Sure you can. It’s public record and open to anybody because almost all court records are open for public scrutiny.

I can think of three ways to find out off the top of my head. You can visit the courthouse. You can setup a PACER account (PACER is the name of the network of online case files for most federal courts) and look it up that way (it’ll cost you a little money, but not much). You can also use a paid service… I think Knowx.com, for example, will set you back a few dollars to run a check by name.
