Go to your local court house. In most court houses they have a computer system that you can access yourself. All you need is the persons name and date of birth. If they don’t have a public computer system then just ask the clerk of court for the info. Most all public records are free of charge. You can also do some research online; there are some free sites in which you can pull the info.

If the type of material you’re looking for has to do with seeing if someone is wanted (by the police?) then contacting your local police department would be the most direct path to the answer. If you walk in and say you’re not sure but you think someone you know could be a wanted person, they will ask you for their full name, first-middle-last and a date of birth to check. Depending on what they find and the seriousness of the ‘want’, if in fact there is one, may dictate what they suggest to you.

Other court records or records found at a court clerk’s office are not related to wanted people. They have to do with prior court cases, domestic and criminal. birth certificates, and a host of other documents.
