On a civil case that 6 years old….I am wanting my husband to pick up a copy of the file for mefrom the court house. Can he ask for the copy even if he wasn’t a party to the case?

Court records are public - anyone can obtain a copy.

Yes they are public and can be picked up by anyone unless the judge ordered them sealed.

He can ask and he would likely be given a copy of the court’s file. Court files are public records (with a few exceptions), so anyone can go and get a copy. He will have to pay for copying the file in most courts which can get expensive. Here, the court charges $1 a page. It would be helpful to know exactly what you need out of the file. Usually it is the register of actions or an order. The clerks should be able to help you.
