Because sites aren’t free.
You can go down to the court in person if you want to see it for free.
There is no such thing as public court records. You can read about trials and their results in the newspaper, but even that is not free.
LETS FILE A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT, ITS FALSE ADVERTISING IF YOU ASK ME
because the site is charging you for the legwork. they aren’t doing this out of the kindness of their hearts.
You are going to private sites. Only some states make the records available over the net. Missouri posts everything. Kansas only posts federal charges. Each state is differant. Either way, all you need to to do is call the office that holds the records and ask them how to get the records. Usually, all you have to do write a letter.
because they are trying to make money. IF you go to the court house you can get them for the cost of copying
Just because they are public records, it doesn’t mean they are free. Websites that claim that are doing so and say “free” and you have to provide a CC # or something even more personal - your SS #. Your best bet is to talk to the Court Clerk in the court where the problem was handled and see what you must do to get a copy of a record(s). Do the smart thing - it doesn’t “rock the boat”.
Public court records are free, just go to the courts and look at them. Copies cost though, even at the courthouse, and if you want someone else to get them for you, (like the people who run the websites), you have to pay them for their time and effort somehow.
First you are wrong; public court records are free, BUT you still need to pay for the paper they use to print them.
And private websites are not a public service so they are going to charge you for their work.
If you want a cheaper price go directly to the courthouse, they are just going to charge you for the copies (paper is not free).
For free, I would recommend searching public records; has an extensive public records database that you can search for free. Good luck!
