court records
farleylb asked:

I am trying to find the court records and any information for a person in California from about 12-15 years ago.
I am trying to get this information online, mainly because I am on one side of the country, and the court is on the other.

You may want to check the county to where that case was tried. There should be some files there, and depending how far they go back and their policy is to releasing that information. You may want to ask the file clerk too.
    I hope this helps.

In the two states that I am familiar with (east coast of the US), you just go to Records in the Courthouse and look them up! Simple as that. One of the states I am referring to is a closed state, so not everything is available. The other state is so open that witnesses and victims are exposed, and the criminal is protected. Crazy…

In every county there is a county clerks office and they keep public records for everything from land deals to court cases. You can go into the office and ask to look at the microfiche for the case number your looking for, if its a matter of public record you’ll be able to look at it for free, there is a small fee for printing off of microfiche. Good luck and happy hunting.

In most counties, the person whose records they are can request a free copy. If the person isn’t you, or your child or spouse, and you’re not their attorney, it might get difficult.
